​​John Baldonado is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor.

 

He interned at New Mexico Citizens Council on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism in Albuquerque in the early 1980’s. He was accepted and completed a specialized alcohol and drug counselor training program in Colorado in conjunction with the Veterans Administration Neuro Psychiatric Hospital at Fort Lyon Colorado. He worked private practice in the south valley in Albuquerque New Mexico until he relocated to Alamogordo in August 1988.

John has been providing substance use disorder services in Alamogordo for the past 37 years. He was CEO of the Otero County Council on Alcohol and Alcoholism until February 2005. At that time, he started Canyon Light Inc. focusing on substance use disorder services. As a client centered-therapist, John has held a harm reduction specialist certification for the past 7 years.
